As a Media Accessibility Assistant in the Accessibility Resource Center (ARC), you will assist the Assistive Technology Coordinator in day-to-day operational duties, primarily relating to media accessibility. This job requires a lot of energy and patience during the first two months of a semester, as this is our busiest time with students and instructors.  

A Media Assistant in ARC will grow skills in areas such as critical and creative thinking, communication, collaboration among team members and staff at large, professionalism when corresponding with faculty and staff, and tech skills in programs like Wordpress and several of the Adobe Creative Cloud apps. Opportunities abound in learning more about equity & inclusion, as well as the importance of providing accessibility for all. 

This job is not related to computer programming. However, the position does require some knowledge of and experience in MS Office365 apps, Adobe apps, etc. Please include a resume with – or information within your application – about your technology experience.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 

  • Conversion of and editing captions for videos through ARC’s YouTube channel, following closed caption standards.
  • Editing digital textbooks and/or documents for text-to-speech accommodations.
  • Preparing equipment for training and for loans to ARC students.
  • Creating training videos related to assistive technology for students, as well as training for students and instructors on ARC’s student and instructor portals (ARConnect and PROFconnect).

Required Skills: 

  • Fluency in the English language.
  • Technical knowledge of YouTube video editing capabilities and functions.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality regarding accommodations.
  • Ability to work 12 - 15 daytime hours per week with flexibility for class schedules.
  • Proficiency in most Microsoft Office365 apps.

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Perform all duties with a positive and professional attitude.
  • Comfortable in conversation with students, instructors, and staff when discussing assistive technology and accessibility.
  • Dedicated, reliable, and responsible (i.e. report to work, complete projects in a timely manner, etc.).
  • Ability to work well, independently and on a team.
  • Enjoys working behind the scenes.
  • Willingness to learn new software and systems.

Workstudy Only, Hourly pay: $14.50 

Preferred start date: August 24, 2025
