Dining and Retail Services: Catering Lead

Job Summary

UWM Catering is hiring student Catering leads to help support and guide daily operations. Responsibilities include assisting with food preparation and presentation, cashiering, and completion of other catering tasks while providing team support and excellent customer service. Leads are expected to model reliability, follow safety protocols, and help train new staff.

Physical requirements:

  • Stand and walk continuously for a minimum of 4 hours
  • Lift up to 40 lbs. repeatedly, including reaching outward, upward, and sideways
  • Maneuver throughout a kitchen environment, and utilize kitchen tools safely

Duties may include:

  • Train new staff and provide team support
  • Oversee all phases of food preparation
  • Provide exceptional customer service to ensure client and guest satisfaction, and event success
  • Oversee set up and break down of event spaces 
  • Assist with transportation of food and equipment to and from events
  • Monitor buffet stations to ensure required service flow
  • Operate registers and handle card transactions
  • Assist with dishwashing
  • Other catering duties as assigned

Qualifications: 

  • Currently enrolled UWM student
  • Reliable, responsible, and punctual
  • 1 year of food service experience preferred
  • Must have availability to work 15-20 hours/week
    • mornings, afternoons, nights
    • must be able to work weekend shifts
    • must be available to start working at 6:00am at least two (2) days/week
    • must be able to stay until 11:00pm on Saturdays, if needed
  • Willing to learn and follow instructions
  • Able to work independently or as part of a team
  • Able to work quickly and accurately while maintaining a pleasant attitude
