University Housing - Housing Ambassador

University Housing’s Housing Ambassador’s (HA) are responsible for providing administrative support for the main housing office, in the following functional ways: provide high quality customer service, office reception, answering phones, appointment scheduling and administrative tasks. The Housing Ambassador role also supports campus recruitment events, assists in tabling and/or presentations and may provide housing tours to prospective students and their families. 

Essential Functions

  • Perform and verify data entry into StarRez, Panther Access to Web Services (PAWS), Guestpass, and Maxient   
  • Assist with management and updates of behavior and conduct cases for students at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee  
  • Assist with tracking of conduct related behaviors including but not limited to confiscated items, key-ins, and type-ins.   
  • Assist with appointment scheduling related to behavior, financial appeals, or general requests.   
  • Provide exceptional customer service to current and prospective customers related to University Housing contracting and residential policies.   
  • Abide by FERPA to ensure confidentiality of student data and compliance with FERPA policies   

Qualifications

  • Flexible schedule and ability to work during office hours Monday through Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm  
  • Have one academic year of live-in experience in the residence halls at UWM.  
  • Maintain a cumulative 2.0 GPA.  
  • Demonstrate qualities of leadership, responsibility, and maturity.
  • Previous housing, administrative duties, and general accounting experience preferred.  
  • Retain (at minimum) part-time status (6 credits/semester) as a student at UWM.  
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (e.g. Word, Excel). 

Hours / Scheduling

  • Approximate hours per week: 10-25 hours
  • Part-Time, Temporary
  • Available to work during office hours Monday-Friday, 8am-4:0pm, and some evening and weekend hours as needed.

Communication: The Housing Ambassador position involves answering phones and emails for current and perspective residents. They must be able to communicate well through multiple methods of communication 

Professionalism: Housing Ambassadors are the face of the Housing department since they are the first person people see when walking into the Housing office. They must have great customer service capabilities.
