Neuroscience Tutor

Job Title: Neuroscience Tutor for High School Students

Blackwell Research Institute is dedicated to training and empowering the next generation of scientific researchers. This role offers an opportunity to mentor motivated high school students who are passionate about neuroscience and eager to explore neuroscience. Our personalized tutoring approach helps students master challenging material, develop analytical thinking, and prepare for advanced research and academic pursuits.

Unlike typical tutoring programs, these students actively seek mentorship and guidance. You will work with curious, engaged learners who are eager to explore topics like neurodegenerative disease, neural development, and neuroanatomy. 

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct personalized one-on-one virtual tutoring sessions via Zoom (typically 1 hour per week per student).
  • Help students understand neuroscience topics, with the help of our Blackwell curriculum
  • Support students in completing assignments, preparing for exams, and developing foundational research skills.
  • Provide mentorship and academic guidance tailored to each student’s interests—ranging from cognitive neuroscience to molecular neurobiology.
  • Maintain communication and scheduling flexibility to accommodate students’ needs.

Qualifications:

  • Must be pursuing a bachelors, masters, or doctorate (PhD or MD/DO) degree in Neuroscience, Psychology, Biology, or a closely related STEM field.
  • At least one year of teaching, tutoring, or mentorship experience (e.g., TA, tutor, research mentor).
  • Strong understanding of at least one area of neuroscience (e.g., neuroanatomy, synaptic physiology, behavioral neuroscience, neurogenetics, or neuropharmacology).
  • Ability to work at least two hours per week (no set minimum or maximum hours required).
