Dock Attendant

Job Overview
The Dock Attendant supports the daily operations of Beaver Lake Nature Center’s summer canoeing and kayaking program. The attendant oversees canoe and kayak rentals at the dock by assisting guests with boats and equipment, ensuring safety rules are communicated and followed by guests, and keeping track of the number of boats on the lake. The Dock Attendant is also responsible for monitoring hazardous paddling conditions and weather conditions and responding to emergency situations.

Position Term & Environment

This is a summer seasonal position from mid-May through September. Start and end date are flexible to accommodate school schedule. Shifts are typically scheduled for 8:45am to 4:30pm; half day shifts may be considered. Position is typically scheduled for 20-24 hours/week, but additional hours may be considered. Must be available for at least one weekend day. Pay rate is $16/hour.

Qualifications

• Must be 16 years of age or older.
• Ability to work outdoors in a wide range of weather conditions.
• Ability to lift and maneuver canoes and kayaks (up to 40 lbs).
• Comfort working around water/docks.
• Knowledge of canoeing/kayaking is helpful but not required.
