Gasthaus Programs Manager

The Gasthaus Programs Manager oversees Student Involvement initiatives pertaining to the Gasthaus. They are responsible for planning and executing large-scale and recurring programming, overseeing marketing procedures, and assisting with Student Involvement initiatives across multiple areas. The Gasthaus Programs Manager maintains open lines of communication with professional staff, Marketing, Catering, and Event Services, and patrons.

Essential Duties

  • Plan and execute large-scale events in the Gasthaus. Events should appeal to a wide audience and be available for all students to participate.
  • Develop partnerships with other campus departments and student organizations to create a recurring (weekly/bi-weekly) programming calendar. 
  • Supervise the bi-weekly Gasthaus Trivia program by coordinating hosts, ordering prizes, and developing event logistics. 
  • Develop marketing for major & recurring programs, working closely with Union Marketing. 
  • Update student and professional staff at weekly and monthly meetings about the events being held in the Gasthaus. 
  • Coordinate social media posts with the @dostuffuwm Instagram account handler. 
  • Update the UWM campus events calendar as needed. 
  • Cross-train on all Union Recreation Center duties. 
  • Attend and participate in meetings with professional staff and department heads. 

Qualifications

  • Have earned and maintain a minimum of a 2.25 cumulative GPA and 2.25 semester GPA during employment.
  • Patient and engaged professional attitude when interacting with student staff, professional staff, and patrons. 
  • Leadership potential, evidenced by previous leadership experiences and references.
  • Exemplary verbal and written communication skills; comfort and skill when speaking in public or facilitating large groups.
  • Exemplary organizational skills; the ability to handle myriad tasks and responsibilities simultaneously; the ability to use different methods of organization to address tasks based on time sensitivity.
  • A strong sense of discernment; willingness to accept responsibility and make sound judgement calls in a dynamic environment.
  • Maturity – including sound judgment, flexibility, and willingness to accept responsibility and take initiative.
  • Exemplary interpersonal skills; the ability to work intuitively and empathetically with others based upon their need, ability, and situation  
  • The ability to take initiative, generate projects, and work autonomously.

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to physically attend work meetings and events. 
  • Must be able to work in a loud environment (Gasthaus & Recreation Center)
