Summer Teen Program Team Leader
Common Good City Farm (CGCF) is hiring team leaders for its Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP), which employs 24-30 teenagers for a six week program. The program focus will be youth development, with a variety of activities including farm operations, entrepreneurial development, production and sale of value-added products, arts and creative projects, employment skill building and wellness activities.
Under the direction of the Community Engagement Manager, Team Leaders assist with program delivery and logistics, and are responsible for ensuring the safety and maintaining the well-being of the youth. Team Leaders receive 4 days of training prior to SYEP, as well as guidance and feedback from the Community Engagement Manager and other CGCF staff.
Job Requirements:
We are looking for well-rounded and outgoing individuals with a strong youth development background committed to or interested in the food justice movement. This position requires dedication and skill in connecting with youth from diverse backgrounds, creativity, flexibility and commitment to the mission of CGCF. Candidates must uphold SYEP’s standards and model personal and professional maturity for the youth. Candidates must complete a background check.
Qualifications
- Training will be 20 hours split between June 22 - 26 and then Team Leaders will work every weekday from June 29 to August 7, 2026 for a total of 35 hours per week. The schedule will be 10 am- 5 pm on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, 10 am - 4 pm on Wednesdays and 10 am- 6 pm on Fridays.
- Must be available and physically present to work the set weekday hours
- Prior experience working with teenagers
- Interest in community service, the environment, and multicultural team building
- Ability to motivate a group of young people while fostering their potential
- Experience leading workshops, teaching lessons and speaking in public
- Experience with conflict resolution processes or the desire to develop their conflict resolution skills
- Ability to do physical and other work outside in all kinds of weather
- CPR & First Aid Training (CPR certification is required by the start of SYEP, CGCF will cover cost of training if necessary)
- Willingness to be fingerprinted and ability to successfully pass a background check
