Union Rec Center Attendant
The Rec Attendant position is a part-time, in-person position in the Student Union Recreation Center. This position includes a heavy focus on customer service and the maintenance of bowling and billiards equipment. Rec Attendants are also responsible for opening and closing duties, accurate cash handling, cleaning and maintenance of the physical space, and the maintenance of non-bowling equipment.
Duties include:
- Rent out bowling, billiards, table tennis, and video game equipment
- Swipe all student IDs in the iPad; collect IDs from all patrons
- Conduct consistent and accurate cash register transactions
- Maintain a clean and orderly environment
- Perform daily opening, closing, and shift cleaning tasks
- Maintenance of bowling lanes, approaches, keypads, furniture, and pinsetters
- Maintain normal pinsetter functioning by repairing and/or troubleshooting problems as they occur during classes, events, reservations, and regular play
- Handle and report incidents in a professional manner
- Interact with patrons in a polite, professional, and engaged manner
- Provide bumpers, ramps, and lighter bowling balls to small children
- Remain up to date on the current schedule of classes and events
- Repair damaged pool cues and other equipment as needed
- Work weekends, reservations, and special events in the Rec Center
- Attend regular staff meetings and mandatory trainings.
Qualifications:
- Willingness to learn and enforce both Rec Center and University policies
- A strong sense of safety consciousness is required
- The ability to work cohesively in a team environment; showing responsibility and trustworthiness as an employee and colleague
- A strong attention to detail; strong organizational skills
- Strong customer service skills
- All Union employees must maintain a 2.25 GPA while employed.
Hours/scheduling:
- All hours are in-person
- Approximate hours per week: 12-20
- Part-Time
- No hours during summer/winter breaks

- Critical Thinking - Rec Attendants are responsible for the maintenance of the Recreation Center. This requires them to think critically when addressing a potential issue, and communicate this issue with other staff members.
- Communication - Rec Attendants must also communicate schedules and other important information to the Recreation Center Operations Manager.
- Professionalism - Rec Attendants must maintain a level of professionalism when dealing with patrons.
