City of Wauwatosa-Tourism Marketing Intern

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assists with marketing and promotion of Wauwatosa through ad campaigns, special event planning and execution, and social media content development and management.

• Helps to manage the Discover Wauwatosa website for content and functionality.

• Receives, directs, and assists in resolving inquiries from citizens or visitors.

•  Assists with copywriting of blog posts, social media, e-newsletters, itineraries, and website content.

• Communicates and works with Wauwatosa tourism partners to promote local businesses and drive economic impact.

• Maintains Wauwatosa tourism brand standards.

• Observes experienced workers to acquire knowledge of methods, procedures, and standards required for performance of duties.

• Completes other administrative duties as assigned.

Provide other required qualifications or information on this position:

• Currently enrolled in an associate’s or bachelor’s degree program in marketing, communications/public relations/journalism, business administration, hospitality/event planning or another related field.

• Prior customer service work experience

• Prior experience with Canva, website content management software, and database software preferred.

• Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to convey information in a positive

Students will gain an understanding of how tourism works in the state of Wisconsin and in Wauwatosa specifically. Student will learn about working with a civic Commission and procedures required. Student will have an opportunity to learn about working with an outside marketing agency and other tourism partners.
