College of the Arts and Architecture - Event Management Staff
The Peck School of the Arts Facilities department is looking for motivated and self-driven students who are interested in working a wide range of events from recitals to weddings. This is a year round position, as we have tasks even when classes are not in session. That said, we have flexible scheduling, but given that most events are on the weekend we require at least one weekend day/night of availability.
Qualifications:
- Customer service experience is required, as we work closely with campus partners and external clients. Applicants without demonstrated customer service experience will not be considered.
- Must be adaptable to working in multiple spaces, as we manage 7 buildings and 7 performance spaces along with 2 art galleries and a variety of meeting rooms and event spaces.
- The ability to work well under pressure and within time limits is necessary.
- Problem solving and anticipating client needs are essential skills, as we run a variety of events including but not limited to: Performances, conferences, meetings, dinners, workshops and weddings.
- Excellent communication skills with both coworkers and management
Essential Functions of the job:
- Selling tickets for performances
- Making sure performances run on time and patrons are happy with their experience.
- Lifting and moving potentially heavy equipment (ex: 8 ft., 6 ft. and round tables, chairs, podiums, risers, shells, speakers, chairs, etc.)
- Completing routine maintenance of buildings, including tasks like painting, changing light bulbs, repairing damage, moving furniture, updating equipment, organizing inventory, etc.
- Attention to detail in the appearance of a set-up and storage spaces within our buildings
- Experience with sound technology is a plus, but not required
- Other technology skills include filling out surveys and reports in addition to communicating via text and email
