Office Assistant-Small Business Development Center

SMALL BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT CENTER (SBDC)

The SBDC is part of the UWM School of Continuing Education; it is located on the 6th floor of the Plankinton Building at 161 W. Wisconsin Ave. in downtown Milwaukee. The SBDC provides business consulting and educational services to promote small business creation and growth.

 

Job Description

The primary responsibility of this individual is to provide administrative support to the Small Business Development Center. Duties include answering phone and voice mail inquiries, responding to email, assisting the program manager in execution of weekly program support tasks, entering information into an internal database, and helping in the preparation of course materials; other duties as needed. There is also a need for basic market research to assist the SBDC consultants with client needs. Social media management including creating posts, content, and obtaining metrics will be performed weekly.

 

Qualifications

We are looking for a self-starter who understands the professional workplace environment, as you will be interacting with center clients and partners. Experience in customer service and MS Office is required, as well as the ability to perform research online and a positive attitude. Ideal candidates will have an interest in entrepreneurship or marketing as well as experience with social media.

 

Pay Rate & Hours

 15-20 hours commitment requested with flexibility for class schedules

 Daytime hours only, no weekends

 WORK STUDY preferred - but not required

 $9.00 per hour depending on experience, excellent performance can lead to pay and responsibility advancement
