NON ENGINEERING/Student Worker – CEAS Front Office Assistant, up to 25 hours or less through Fall 2018 with possibility of longer upon review

Purpose of Position
Under direction of the University Services Program Associate, support front office activities to insure effective operation of College of Engineering & Applied Science
                                                                                             
Description of Responsibilities                                                         Approximate Percent Time                                                                                                                                                              Communication:                                                                                                                                            35%
Serve as first point of contact for the departments, faculty, Chairs and offices by responding to written and verbal inquiries. Answer phones and greet walk-in visitors. Refer non-routine requests to appropriate people.
Projects and related office duties:                                                                                         35%
As directed, assist in filing maintenance for CEAS administration offices. Follow standard procedures to perform data entry for assigned projects such as compilation of student evaluations. Assist with marketing mailings or other compilation of promotional materials as directed. Run errands on and around campus as directed.

Facilitate mail and package distribution and pick up:                                               20%    
Distribute incoming mail to mailboxes. Update mailbox assignments and labels as directed. Log incoming parcels and notify recipients per CEAS standard procedures. Run interoffice mail to campus destinations as needed.

Office equipment and supplies:                                                                                             10%
Maintain and assist users with copier, fax, laminator, label-maker and miscellaneous front office equipment. As directed, assist faculty and staff to obtain standard office supplies from front office stock, and facilitate reorder of supplies as needed. Check-out/check in conference room keys and equipment. Maintain and keep clean both office and kitchen areas, making coffee and tidying up related equipment and supplies.

Knowledge and Skills Required
·        Word Processing
·        Writing, spelling and proofreading
·        Ability to learn rules, regulations, and policies of UWM and CEAS
·        Excellent interpersonal communications
·        Knowledge of low-dollar ordering processes.
