Admissions Ambassador

The Office of Undergraduate Admissions is looking for Admissions Ambassadors to support the front desk and serve as an imaging assistant for the Admission Operations office in Mellencamp Hall.
 
Admissions Ambassadors will specifically:
·      Greet visitors, answer questions or direct them to appropriate source for answers.
·      Answer telephone and retrieve phone messages from voice mail and direct messages appropriately.
  • Operate document imaging equipment/software to create electronic files or archives.
  • Prepare documents for scanning, scan documents, and verify quality of digital images.
·      Use judgment to request help from OUA staff to serve students effectively and appropriately, brining any problems to the attention of supervisors in the department.
·      Prepare professional email communication to students, campus partners, and department staff.
·      Help with office duties such as copying, filing, typing, and word processing.
·      Assist in preparation of onsite admissions materials.
  • Adhere to office policies and procedures and process files in an efficient manner to comply with University archiving rules.
  • On occasion, perform data entry projects.
  • Assist staff with special projects as requested.
Qualifications:
  • Must be a current, undergraduate full-time student.
  • Must maintain a 2.5 or higher GPA.
  • Must display evidence of exemplary customer service skills in person, over the phone, and through email correspondence.
  • Must be a self-starter willing to provide excellent service to University stakeholders. 
  • Must be organized, with the ability to pay exceptional attention to details.
  • Will be reliable and dependable so that work can be completed independently, with minimal supervision.
  • Will act as a UWM Campus Ambassador by displaying appropriate behavior at work and communicate professionally with stakeholders.
  • Has familiarity with Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, etc.), Google Docs, and social media platforms.
  • Has elevated computer software experience with People Soft, Perceptive Content or other electronic imaging systems (preferred, not required)
  • Has the ability to maintain confidentiality - All information about our students is strictly confidential and student workers are obliged by law not to reveal any information they may see in the course of their work.
 
Physical Requirements:
  • Must possess the ability to sit for at least two (2) hours or more at a time. 
  • On occasion, be able to lift boxes containing paper documents that weigh approximately 10-20 lbs.
