Communications Coordinator

The Communications Coordinator provides a wide variety of support to IT Professional Services, an area under University IT Services (UITS) at UWM. This primarily includes assisting in three main functional areas: communication and engagement, training and outreach, and project management. 
Position Level: Intermediate 
Class Requirements: Freshman – Graduate, more than one semester left of school preferred.
 Required Qualifications 
• Must be detail oriented, organized, and dependable with the ability to work well without direct supervision and in a team environment. • Must possess excellent verbal, technical and written communication skills. • Must be able to perform routine office duties such as documentation, content creation, taking notes, filing, record keeping and making copies. • Ability to work effectively with faculty, staff and fellow student employees in a professional environment. • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office 2016 productivity suite. • Ability to lift 20 lbs. repeatedly, and stand for long periods of time (tabling at various events, distributing print collateral around campus, etc.).
• Ability to work well in a team environment and collaborate with others to meet specific deadlines. Preferred Qualifications 
• Previous writing experience (professional, technical, online articles/blogging, etc.). • Previous experience in event management (working at, or coordination of, events, fundraisers, informational booths, etc.). • Experience in sales, training, and/or customer service. • Knowledge of and/or experience using UWM IT systems such as Office 365, SharePoint Online, PantherList and Microsoft Office 2016. • Experience with WordPress and/or Adobe Creative Suite.
May include, but are not limited to:
• Manage and coordinate internal & external resources to ensure flawless execution of projects that are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget.

• Create, organize, and maintain comprehensive project documentation such as work breakdown structures, communication plans, training & support plans, and any other necessary project documentation. • Perform various project research, data gathering, and analysis. • Draft and help develop high-quality information assessments such as business cases, audience analyses, focus groups, etc. • Assist with the development and management of internal and external communications such as drafting content, updating webpages, and creating communications plans, strategies, and messages. • Design and develop training & support plans, programs, resources, and documentation as well as provide training to project stakeholders.
 IT Professional Services has office hours from 7am – 6pm, Monday – Friday; however, there is flexibility to accommodate varying schedules.
A dedicated work area will be provided by IT Professional Services.
