Network Technician Assistant (Beginner)
Summary:
The Network Technician Assistant is a hands-on position. This position is responsible primarily for installing category cable(s), at various locations across the UWM campus.
Qualifications & Expectations:
- Good technical understanding
- Good mechanical aptitude
- Capable of working in confined spaces, on ladders, and in ceiling areas (plenum area).
- Good organizational skills
- Good communications skills
- Abide by all UITS work rules/practices specifically outlined, but not limited to, the Student Employment Handbook and/or rules outlined by your department.
Job Functions include but are not limited to:
- Assist network technicians in all aspects of installing, troubleshooting, and maintaining the campus’ networking infrastructure.
- Installing and terminating voice and data cabling
- Tip and ring telephone installations
- Test Ethernet connections
- Emergency phone testing
- Ring, J-hook and Cable Tray Installation
Position Level:
Beginner
Hours:
Must have 15-25 hours (during the school year) and 25-40 hours (during the summer) available between 7:00am and 5:00pm Monday through Friday, with a minimum of 4 hours shifts.
Year round position with extended summer hours available

NWQB and across the UWM Campus
