OFFICE ASSISTANT
SMALL BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT CENTER (SBDC)

The SBDC provides educational experiences and business consulting to promote small business creation and growth. It is located in the UWM School of Continuing Education; on the 6th floor of the Plankinton Building at 161 W. Wisconsin Ave. in downtown Milwaukee. As part of a national network of support centers, we are the largest support network of business assistance programs.

Job Description
The primary responsibility of this individual is to provide administrative support to the Small Business Development Center. Duties include answering phone and voice mail inquiries, responding to email, assisting the program manager in execution of weekly program support tasks, entering information into an internal database, helping in the preparation of course materials, and gathering industry research for potential clients; other duties as needed.

Qualifications
We are looking for a self-starter who understands the professional workplace environment, as you will be interacting with center clients and partners. Experience in customer service and MS Office is required, as well as the ability to perform research online and a positive attitude. Ideal candidates will have an interest in entrepreneurship or marketing as well as experience with social media and email lists.

Pay Rate & Hours
- 12-20 hours commitment requested with flexibility for class schedules
- Daytime hours only (center operations are 8-4:30, M-F)
WORK STUDY preferred - but not required
- $9.00 per hour depending on experience, excellent performance can lead to pay and responsibility advancement
