WRC Program Coordinator

Title of the Position: WRC Program Coordinator 
Department: Office of Student Life—Women’s Resource Center (WRC)  
Reports to: WRC Assistant Director 
 
Mission: We use an intersectional lens to advocate for the education, empowerment, and agency of women-identified folks. 
 
Overview: Our work is to maintain a welcoming, inclusive and informative environment for the campus community. As student employees you are often the first point of contact for visitors. Job Summary: Advance the mission of the WRC by developing and implement programs to bring awareness to the Women’s Resource Center’s programs and services.  
 
Key Area of Responsibilities: 
  • Office Management 
  • Programming Initiatives  

Office Management 
  • Orient visitors to the WRC's on-site and web-based resources, including but not limited to the lending library, free literature collection, website, and additional services available through the WRC. 
  • Assist with daily administrative and clerical tasks, including but not limited to, making copies, sending faxes, scanning documents, data entry, word processing, delivering items to other UWM offices, and other miscellaneous tasks. 
  • Oversee a positive presentation of the office as a clean, comfortable, functional space. 
  • Oversee administrative functions related to the WRC lending library; research and acquire new material and integrate into our library. 
  • Maintain on-line event calendars and electronic documents associated with attendance figures for WRC events and outreach activities. 
  • Manage the UWM Union lactation room; assist walk-in users to the physical space. 
  • Ensure that the WRC's supply of safer sex, menstrual hygiene, and other materials are fully stocked 
  • Distribute mail accordingly  
  • Attend weekly WRC staff meeting, bi-weekly one-on-one meeting with Ambassador Program Manager, and mandatory staff trainings  
  • Complete weekly readings and learning activities as outlined by the professional development schedule 
 
Programming Initiatives 
  • Plan, implement, and evaluate social and educational programming (e.g., Feminist Flea Market, Juntas, Sisters Like Me, International Women’s Day, Denim Day) 
  • Expand awareness about the work of the Women’s Resource Center (WRC) 
  • Participate in at least one campus outreach activity a week (e.g., tabling, campus raps, WRC events)  
  • Other duties as assigned 

Qualifications 
  • Ability to demonstrate leadership skills; comfortable developing and leading programs, as well as managing assigned volunteers.   
  • Comfortable with responding to and intervening in student crisis situations,   
  • Willingness to work with diverse and culturally pluralistic student and staff  
  • Interpersonal skills (ability to interact effectively and enthusiastically with others)   
  • Ability to develop /demonstrate cultural competencies  
  • Experience doing social justice work and /or related coursework  
  • Must be an enrolled student  
  • Flexible scheduling; requires a maximum of 10 hours commitment per week.
