Student Web Developer

Summary:
As a member of the URC Web & Mobile Services you are expected to provide a professional
level of customer assistance and support. Candidates for this position should have some
knowledge of the tools and technologies that are associated with web development. The
candidate must also have the willingness to learn and desire to make web development a career.
This is an entry level position. It is expected that a student hired into this position will require a
fairly extensive amount of training. It is also expected that the employee will show initiative in
learning and advancing those skills which might prevent him/her from performing at the expected
level.
Qualifications:
  • Must possess a basic level of proficiency in the following types of web maintenance
technical knowledge and production skills:
  • HTML; including basic coding, images, sound, graphics, Javascript and forms
  • Web Production Tools; Photoshop, web editors.
  • UWM Web Standards, Web accessibility, browser compatibility and UWM Web
server specifics
  • Must have the skills necessary to perform web page maintenance job duties on a
professional level for clients.
  • Basic troubleshooting skills.
  • Must possess the skills necessary to work independently, with minimal supervision, to
meet established deadlines.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively both electronically and verbally with clients and
other staff members.
Duties:
1. Complete clients’ requests for maintenance and updating of existing web pages.
2. Assist in updating and maintenance of UWM web pages as assigned by staff mentor.
3. Extensive consultation with Web and Mobile staff mentor when working on jobs for
clients. All stages of projects, as well as the final projects, must be proofed and approved
by staff mentor prior to being released to customer.
4. Technical support for campus web content management systems.
5. Other duties as assigned.
