Student Research Assistant

Does quiet, solitary work energize you? Are you a whiz with details, computers, and online research? Would you like to learn about fundraising? Do you have a rock-solid respect for confidentiality?

If so, consider applying for this part-time opportunity in the UWM Development and Alumni Relations Office (https://uwm.edu/give/), located in the Hefter Conference Center (at the corner of E. Hartford Ave. and N. Lake Drive). We are a large, diverse professional team, dedicated to strategic growth and philanthropic inspiration. We work with individuals, corporations, and foundations to help build UWM's future, through investments in student scholarships, academic programs, faculty research, construction or renovation projects, and other priorities.

Under the supervision of the Director of Research, and in collaboration with the Associate and Assistant Directors of Research and another part-time student, this Student Research Assistant will provide crucial administrative support through database updates, basic research, occasional routine filing, and miscellaneous special projects, as needed.

Applicants must be enrolled at UWM at the undergraduate or graduate level. They should be detail-oriented, accurate, well-organized, eager to learn, and self-motivated. They should have excellent time management and communication skills and a strong familiarity with all standard office technologies and programs. They should demonstrate maturity, collegiality, and professionalism. Finally: They should be willing to agree to at least one year of employment.

This position pays $10.00 hourly and has been funded for 18 hours per week during the summer -- an introductory/training period -- and 10 to 12 hours weekly in the fall and spring semesters. The precise schedule is flexible, to accommodate classes and other commitments, but initial work-shifts between 10:00 AM and 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday, are preferred; telecommuting is an option, after satisfactory completion of the training. The position will be filled as soon as possible.

Applications -- including a résumé, cover letter, and three references (with contact information and email addresses for each) -- should be e-mailed to Jeff Walker, PhD, Director of Research, at walker34@uwm.edu. Application screening will begin immediately.
