UWM Lubar Student Worker - Financial Reporting

The Sheldon B. Lubar School of Business at the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee seeks applications for a Student Worker to provide support for financial related activities in the Dean’s Suite. Reporting to the Sr. Financial Specialist, the Student Worker will also work with the Accountant to provide support for financial reporting and related activities.

Job Duties: 
Under the direction of the Sr. Financial Specialist, the student worker will assist the Sr. Financial Specialist and the Accountant with financial reporting by auditing figures, reconciling data, calculating and collecting information to revise reports, maintain databases, contribute to budgetary process, payroll activities, financial reporting and related projects. Activities will include, but are not limited to data entry, calculating, tracking, reconciliation, forms completion, projects, and other duties as assigned.  This position may also provide staff assistance to the Lubar School’s Human Resources Department and could include reception, projects, and other activities on a back-up basis.

Qualifications: 
Required qualifications include completion of at least one year towards an undergraduate degree in Accounting or Finance and have a strong aptitude for analytical activities to include auditing information, reconciling, data entry, calculating and revising data for financial reports to include spread sheets and projects. Must be detail oriented with the demonstrated ability to perform numerical analysis and reporting. Technical expertise with Windows applications and Microsoft Office: Word, Outlook, and Excel is required. Must also possess a good sense of judgment and discretion with the understanding of practices for handling highly confidential information and knowledge of standard office procedures. Familiarity with general accounting is helpful along with organizational and time management skills including the ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines.  Strong verbal and written communication is also preferred along with the ability to work under multiple reporting relationships.
