IT Student Assistant

The UWM Foundation’s mission is to support the educational, literary and scientific endeavors of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee by receiving, managing and distributing gifts to benefit the University’s students, faculty, programs and community. In addition, the UWM Foundation provides leadership, oversight and direction to its affiliated corporations, the UWM Real Estate Foundation and the UWM Research Foundation.

The UWM Foundation is seeking a part-time IT Student Assistant. This individual will report directly to the IT Specialist. Primary duties consist of data entry and data quality assurance for the University’s alumni and donor database. The position also provides support to the IT Systems Manager and the Database & Network Administrator in their daily functions including, but not limited to database maintenance, technical support, troubleshooting, and other special projects as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:
·        Sophomore status in an IT-related program, such as Computer Science, Information Technology Management or Information Science and Technology.
·        High proficiency working with computer hardware and operating system environments
·        Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office, specifically Excel and Access. 
·        Excellent organizational, verbal and written communication skills
·        Demonstrate attention to detail and high degree of accuracy
·        Ability to work independently as well as in a group environment
·        Highly motivated with a desire to learn and acquire new technical skills.


Preferred Qualifications:
·        Familiar with relational database concepts; experience with SQL is a plus.
·        Ability to document business processes
·        Ability to multi-task and prioritize assigned projects
