Digital Learning Environment Project Assistant in The Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning

Position Description 

A successful Digital Learning Environment Project Assistant will support UWM’s Learning Management System Administrators in day-to-day business activities with a sincere drive to solve unique problems in a complex and diverse problem-solving environment. Support includes the assisting in D2L and Canvas maintenance, the development of knowledgebase articles and documents, aiding in the development of workflow automation, copy development and proofreading, some data analysis and other tasks as assigned.  





Key Responsibilities 

  • Provide administrative support to the UWM Canvas/D2L Administrators and other CETL staff as assigned in information processing, business process automation and data gathering to support the use of Canvas, Desire2Learn and other services 
  • Revise and edit web-based and print technical support materials 
  • Assist in the development of reports and presentations, including data manipulation and the creation of charts and graphs 
  • Assist with CETL marketing efforts, including drafting email announcements, updating website content, and developing print materials 
  • Additional duties as assigned by the lead Learning Management System Administrator or the Director of the Center for Excellence in Teaching & Learning 





Qualifications 

  • Experience and comfort working in an environment with rapidly changing priorities 
  • Ability and discipline to carry out a task to completion independently, ask questions when needed, and strive to go beyond the expected to the exceptional 
  • A desire and flexibility to learn new processes, practices and tools 
  • Exceptional organizational skills 
  • Exceptional writing skills with a strong eye for detail 
  • Experience using Microsoft products, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access 
  • Experience using Canvas, D2L, a similar learning management system, or software system as a student 
  • Optional, but desired: experience using Adobe Creative Cloud tools. 


About the Center for Excellence in Teaching & Learning 

The Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning (CETL) supports instructors and the greater UWM community in the application and development of proven teaching practices. CETL facilitates excellence in face-to-face, blended and online teaching, and promotes practices and activities that enhance student learning outcomes by consulting with instructors, offering professional development opportunities, and supporting the successful application of learning and operational technologies in-cooperation with offices across UWM’s multiple campuses, as well as the University of Wisconsin System. CETL operates regular business hours of 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday.
