Front Desk Navigator

Position Description
Student Involvement (SI) Navigators provide student support at the Front Desk of Student Involvement. This position manages the inflow of questions, navigates problems, and connects students to relevant resources, staff, and processes. This position provides essential administrative support and facilitates business and reception services while serving as the initial point of contact for students, staff, and visitors.
  • Located in Union Room 355
  • Part-time (10+ hours per week, minimum of 9 hours per week required)
  • Wage starts at $8.50

Position Responsibilities
  • Customer service for UWM students, Faculty/Staff, and Milwaukee community members (in forms of in-person, email, and phone communication)
  • Handling regular office tasks (printing, faxing, making labels, sorting mail, etc.)
  • Navigating student organization processes (documenting inventory, processing forms and registration, etc.)
  • Assisting Professional Staff members with smaller tasks or larger projects
  • Taking lead on certain annual projects such as Renewal registration, Spring inventory audits, wooden locker allocations, office space key audits, etc.

Minimum Requirements
The candidate must be a currently enrolled UWM student with at least a 2.75 GPA. The candidate must be willing to work at least 9 hours every week. Candidates must demonstrate a high level of responsibility, the ability to work independently and collaboratively, a commitment to excellent customer service, and a passion for all students to get involved.
  • Proficient in basic Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, Mail, and Calendar
  • Experience in customer service (0.5+ years)
  • Experience with professional communication

Working Conditions
  • Office environment with exposure to low-level noise and chemicals related to operation of equipment such as copiers, computers, and printers
  • Helping more than 1 customer/guest at times
