External Relations Student Assistant

Position Title: External Relations Student Assistant

Department: Neighborhood Housing

Reports to: Alyssa Conrardy, Neighborhood Housing &
Relations Manager

Starting Pay: $10.00 per hour with opportunities for raises
at end of semester evaluations

Location: UWM Student Union, Neighborhood Housing
Office (In-Person/On-Site and virtual work)

Required hours: 10-25 hours a week, some evenings and
weekends, year-round
*exact weekly hours and schedule to be determined by supervisor
in consideration with any available work study award*

Required Experience and Qualifications:
• UWM Student enrolled in a minimum of 3 credits and maintain a 2.5 or higher semester and cumulative GPA
• Must live near UWM’s Kenwood campus and have renting experience
• Must be able to prioritize this job if holding more than one employment position, school is only exception.
• Utilize Adobe and Office 365 programs (Microsoft Word, Excel, Sharepoint, Onedrive, Onenote, Teams, etc.)
• This position requires staff to multitask, interpret, and utilize a constant, large amount of information in a fast-paced
environment.

Preferred Skills and Qualifications:
Well-qualified candidates will possess excellent written and interpersonal communications skills and maintain effective
working relationships with other campus departments and external constituents. The position requires strong
organizational skills and the ability to exercise discretion and maintain confidentiality. Preferably eligible for Work Study
Financial Aid Award – Must have submitted a FAFSA.

General duties:
• Promote NHO mission through general office support, customer service, and advisement on the rental process unique to
UWM and renting related challenges
• Refer students, parents, and community constituents to appropriate campus and community resources such as Dean of
Students, Department of Neighborhood Services, University Legal Clinic, College Pads, etc.
• Track all interactions, analyze data, and administer forms and surveys
• Administer the Preferred Tenant Program course
• Coordinate and create content for e-newsletters, social media, and website
• Follow University Relations Branding Guidelines
• Perform outreach with UWM students in the neighborhood near campus at off-campus rentals
• Plan and support programs, initiatives, and events including but not limited to: UNITE, Move-Out Festival, Housing
Fair, Neighborhood Clean-Ups, tabling, orientation, presentations, sponsorships, etc.
• Staff external relations events (ex: Bucks, Brewers, Family Weekend) and perform other duties as assigned
