Development Assistant

Position Summary
 
The Office of Development & Alumni Relations is a large, diverse professional team, dedicated to strategic growth and philanthropic inspiration. We work with individuals, corporations, and foundations to help build UWM’s future through investments in student scholarships, academic programs, faculty research, building projects, and other priorities.
 
The Development Assistant will work under the supervision of the Development Director and be located in the EMS building (3200 N. Cramer) 3rd floor Career Services area, assisting with College of Engineering and Applied Science (CEAS) Development efforts.
 
·        12 hours a week Monday – Friday, $10 per hour
·        Create your schedule around classes (9 am to 4:30 pm)
·        Flexible scheduling (for events, calling alumni/donors, and solicitations)

Qualifications Applicants should be:
 
·        Detail-oriented, thorough, accurate, well-organized, self-motivated and have the utmost respect for confidentiality
·        Have excellent time management skills
·        Able to work independently and complete projects in a timely manner based on position needs
·        Need both written and oral communication skills as well as the ability to use standard office technologies and programs (MS Office suite, particularly excel, publisher a plus)
·        Demonstrate maturity and professionalism
·        Able to exhibit analytical and problem solving abilities
·        Able to effectively prioritize work and plan future events and meetings
 
Responsibilities
·        Learn Canva in order to create stewardship reports, solicitations and fundraising appeals
·        Write/edit solicitation/acknowledgement/ thank you letters to donors/prospects
·        Compile data to support grant requests and develop marketing materials
·        Provide general office assistance such as copying, filing, mailing and scheduling
·        Ordering IT foundation reports, organizing alumni/donor mailings, sorting alumni data
·         Call donors to arrange and confirm appointments for the Director of Development and update her calendar
·        Assist the Director of Development in organizing and coordinating events, and volunteer opportunities, to promote development efforts and update the donor database
·        Perform other duties as assigned by the College of Engineering and Applied Science Development Director
