Health Information Service Member

Position Summary/Job Duties: Under the direction and supervision of patient support services lead and clinic manager, the student information service member will provide a critical interface with the patient and health care delivery system within the student health center. Independent decision-making abilities required. This person is expected to exercise independent judgement and initiative in identifying problems and seeking and implementing solutions. Confidentiality, privacy, and security of health information is essential. Assist with clerical tasks including welcoming students to the center, checking and confirming eligibility, scanning and shredding of PHI documents, answering phones and scheduling visits, reminder calls for specialist appointments, records requests and special projects as directed by the patient support service lead 
Anticipated hours: All health information service members must provide a minimum of 3 (3-hour) shifts/week (minimum of 9 hours/week) 
Required Skills: Customer service skills; professionalism; accountability; strong work ethic; ability to prioritize tasks/responsibilities; punctuality; maintain confidentiality; phone etiquette; accuracy 
Preferred Skills: Experience in a healthcare setting/clinic type setting; ability to multitask, MA/CNA/EMT, HCA student, nursing student 
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Able to work independently and as part of a team; able to follow written and verbal directions; excellent verbal and written communication skills; understanding of confidentiality 
Physical demands: Must be able to stand, squat, bend throughout shift; must be able to walk/stand for extended periods of time; must be able to lift up to 25 pounds.
