Personal Fitness Trainer

UREC is seeking CERTIFIED PERSONAL TRAINERS


Personal Trainers will conduct fitness testing, develop safe and effective exercise programs and educate clients on proper exercise recommendations and techniques. If you are not certified, but are interested in becoming certified, contact UREC for more info.

Qualifications:
  • MUST obtain a current Personal Trainer Certification from an accredited national organization (e.g. ACE, ACSM, NSCA, NASM).
  • Demonstrate thorough understanding of strength training and cardiovascular exercise.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of anatomy and physiology.
  • Demonstrate the ability to use and operate a variety of strength training and cardiovascular equipment.
  • Must have/maintain knowledge of current industry standards and trends.
  • Must possess strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Must be willing to work with staff, students and members of a diverse background.
  • Must have strong organizational skills and the ability to balance time commitments.
  • Must be self-motivated and able to work independently. 

Essential Duties:
  • Design individualized safe and effective exercise programs for clients with varying goals and fitness levels.
  • Conduct Personal Fitness Assessments for clients and UREC participants.
  • Ensure the safety and appropriateness of exercises selected, providing modifications and adhering to industry standards.
  • Educate clients on proper form, techniques, anatomy, physical activity guidelines and contraindications.
  • Advise clients on their exercise questions, remaining within the scope of practice.
  • Coach, inspire and motivate clients towards established goals.
  • Independently manage personal training appointments and provide the best customer service to clients.
  • Enforce all UREC policies to participants.
  • Maintain regular contact with clients and track progress.
  • Maintain accurate paperwork for clients and sessions.
  • Maintain client load of at least four clients.
  • Work 2-6 hours of Fitness Attendant, Fitness Specialist or Office assistant hours.
  • Be appropriately dressed, display professionalism and provide quality customer service at all times.
  • Attend and actively participate in all required staff meetings and training sessions.
  • Maintain organization/cleanliness/maintenance of Personal Training Studio.
  • Support and promote UREC sponsored programs.
  • Participate in UREC special events and department programs (such as health fairs)
  • Inform clients of various UREC sponsored programs/events.
  • Create/implement at least one fitness/health program for UREC members.
  • Continually increase knowledge through continuing education and keep up with trends in the fitness industry.
  • Allow Fitness Specialists to shadow sessions in their training process, explaining to clients the importance of shadowing and the learning environment of UREC.
  • Be receptive to feedback.
  • Act as an ambassador for UREC both at work and away.
  • Execute emergency procedures when necessary.
  • Maintain certifications as required.
