Information Security Associate

Summary:
This is a technical support, research and documentation position working on computer security related projects as assigned by the UITS Information Security Lead Analyst. Acceptable candidates should be detail oriented, possess good organizational abilities and demonstrate excellent written and verbal skills. He or she should also be able to work effectively both with and without direct supervision and be willing to multi-task. This position will be working with students, faculty and staff.
 
Qualifications & Expectations:
  • Ability to independently research and resolve problems and/or proactively seek advice to assist clients, when appropriate.
  • Ability and willingness to learn about and use emerging technologies as well as advise others on the implementation and evaluation of emerging technologies.
  • Ability to work independently and meet project deadlines with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to proactively participate in on-the-job training.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge and experience in basic PC hardware and software troubleshooting
  • Knowledge of current computer security issues including viruses spyware, blended threat type issues and hacking/unauthorized access type threats.
  • Basic knowledge of antivirus and security concepts
  • Familiarity and proficiency with Microsoft Office products
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to think quickly on your feet and make informed decisions.
 
Job Functions include but are not limited to:
  • Monitor and respond to security tickets and security alerts. This includes initial troubleshooting, some analysis of the incident and preparing a report on the incident.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, end user instructions and “FAQs.”
  • Assist in administering and supporting security services.
  • Work on various technical and non technical projects for the office as assigned.
  • Keep up on the latest information security related news and events.
