HR Assistant for Restaurant Operations

Student Position Summary: 

As an HR assistant for Restaurant Operations, you will guide restaurant operations employees through the hiring process while using attentive and thoughtful communication with students, coordination and organization, and creative problem solving. This Assistant position is directly responsible for office functions of university run Residential Dining units, including Sandburg Café, Cambridge Café, The Eatery (RiverView Cafe), Restor, and Catering related to student hourly staff.  

This position exercises a high level of confidentiality of employee information, strong attention to detail in all work requirements, a customer-service driven atmosphere that welcomes
questions/concerns, effective communication with department and intercampus representatives, and a full understanding of Retail Services and UWM’s policies and procedures. The incumbent is expected to mostly work independently and have the ability to solve problems, seek information from supervisor(s), other departments or various sources, if needed, and use best judgement of when direct supervisor needs to be involved with a complex issue.  

The training for this position will start the week of August 15th for the Fall 2022 Semester and be offered an hourly rate between $11-11.50 based on prior relevant work experience.

General Duties:  
  • Emailing and communicating with retail service students and staff in a timely manner  
  • Assisting with hiring   
  • Preparing and filing paperwork  
  • Assisting with data entry   

Qualifications:  
  • Available 3-4 days of the week (8am-12pm Monday-Friday) 
  • Has excellent written and verbal communication  
  • Has customer service experience   
  • Organizational skills 
  • Must be an undergraduate student
