Research Assistant

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position works directly with the Endowed Chair of the Office of Applied Gerontology, located within the Helen Bader School of Social Welfare. The Student Hourly Research Assistant is responsible for assisting with data management and analysis, report writing, and publication and presentation preparation. Listed below are more specific responsibilities.
§ Assist in preparing manuscripts for publication and professional presentations.
§ Conduct and summarize detailed literature reviews on selected topics, as directed by the Endowed Chair in Applied Gerontology.
§ Assist with the collection of survey data, qualitative data, and intervention fidelity.
§ Assist with event planning and outreach initiatives as needed.
§ Participate in research and planning meetings.
§ Data entry and management.
§ Quantitative and qualitative data analysis under the direction of the Endowed Chair.

QUALIFICATIONS:
§ Must be a UW-Milwaukee graduate student or undergraduate student of junior or senior academic standing.
§ Solid knowledge of Microsoft Office programs including Outlook, Word, Access, PowerPoint, and Excel.
§ Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
§ Professional writing skills.

SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
The ideal candidate would possess excellent interpersonal and professional writing skills, and have an interest in issues related to older adults. The candidate should be thoroughly familiar with the UWM Libraries’ online resources and research tools. They should be well-organized, highly motivated, and self-driven, with the ability to multi-task and complete projects in an accurate and timely fashion.

HOURS/HOURLY RATE:
10-15 hours per week
$15.00 per hour
