Restaurant Operations: Student Nutritionist

 

The Nutritionist will assist with data entry of dietary information into our Dining and Retail Services nutritional database, and update Restaurant Operations Food Information page, including Net Nutrition, as needed. They will meet with current students to discuss dietary needs or concerns, and relay information to the appropriate staff member(s). This role offers the opportunity for a student to employ information they're currently learning while gaining valuable hands-on experience in the field. 

 

MUST HAVE:                                                                                                                                                  This position requires knowledge and a skill set specific to the field of Nutritional Sciences. Applicants whose backgrounds DO NOT meet this requirement, WILL NOT be contacted for an interview.

 

REQUIRED AVAILABILITY:                                                                                                                               Student must be able to work 15-25 hours/week with the flexibility to work evenings and weekends, if needed.                                                                                                                               

Shift: Mon-Fri, 8:00am-4:30pm.                                                                                                                  Additional hours may be available during the year as needs arise.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 

  • Assist with data entry of dietary information into Dining and Retail Services nutritional  database, Food Service Suite
  • Update Net Nutrition database
  • Attend video conference meetings
  • Meet with individual students to identify their dietary needs
  • Follow up with students to determine if dietary modifications are required

Other Requirements: 

 Education:  Must be a UWM undergraduate student pursuing a degree in Nutrition                    Experience:  No minimum work experience required as candidate will                                                                           receive extensive training                                                                                               Dress Code:                                                                                                                                                    Nutritionist Must wear 

 Pants: clean non-tattered pants such as khakis, cargo pants,                                                                                 solid-colored jeans, etc.                                                                                                                          Tops: nice short- and long-sleeved shirts, sweaters, sweatshirts, etc.                                                Shoes: closed-toe shoes with socks

WORK ENVIRONMENT  

Work is performed primarily on campus in an office. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate and moderate to high during busy times.
